Rose shadows

Just look at the abundancy with which these yellow roses are flowering. On a sunny day casting fantastic shadows on the wall. Today is one of those days, bringing us summer like temperatures! Summer is here!

Change

Came across these words of Darwin in a magazine:
"It's not the strongest of the species that survives,
nor the most intelligent that survives.
It is the one that is the most adaptable to change."

These words mark the importance of permanent education.
Keeping up-to-date is a must, making "lifelong learning" an important motto!

Heh mr chicken .... what are you doing in our garden?
where do you come from.....?
don't look so surprised....
we won't harm you!
You look like an amazing statue between our plants
still you're very real and won't have a life here
let's help you back to your own place.....

Coloured glass

We're enjoying a rather dreary, sunless weekend. So the coloured glass shadows below were captured several days ago when we still enjoyed hot, sunny weather! Sometimes it amazes me how fast weather conditions can change and what impact they can have. Look at the flooding in France only a few days ago. How awful for all those people who were affected!

Thanks for visiting and enjoy your Sunday!

Geranium shadow

Another shadow I captured in Gozo. This time the shadow of a lone, little geranium. If I look at the geraniums in our own garden in Holland right now they are so much bigger. Guess it's the heat and lack of water that kept this one so small. Still I liked its shadow enough to take a picture.

Hope your Sunday is filled with sun and shadows! Enjoy!

Ramla Bay

Ramla Bay in Gozo is the sandy beach on Gozo. I spent many sunny afternoons on that beach in the 3 months summer holiday we used to have. With friends we also enjoyed a good barbecue at the beach on a nice summer evening. Oh sweet memories.......Here you can see the road down to Ramla from Nadur, the village where we used to live.

Dwejra

Dwejra with its Azure window and Inland Sea is one of my favourite places on Gozo. The sunset is beautiful over there.
Unfortunately not on the evening we visited this time.
Oh well I'll be back and hope to see its beauty again!

Happiest man

who finds peace in his home."

Fishermen in Marsalforn

The little harbour of Marsalforn is full of activity early in the morning.
It is a delight to roam around and watch the fishermen coming back from sea on luzzu's filled with fishing cages....that have to be unloaded.
And seeing fishermen busy ....... adjusting nets and removing dead fish and rubbish. This is daily routine... preparing for the next fishing trip. More fishermen busy getting a boat out of the sea.

Narrow street shadow

Another shadow shot I took in Gozo. In the centre of Victoria there are many narrow streets. This street is a little wider than most streets in this part of town. In fact the long shadow made by the row of houses is as narrow as most streets are in this part of town. At the end of the street you can see the shadow continuing in a narrow street.

Churches in Gozo

In Gozo there are many beautiful churches. Above you see the church of Nadur. This is in the town where we used to live. Those were the days when I, a foreigner living in Gozo, was also "ta'l Festa" as the Gozitans would say, at the feast of St Peter & St Paul on 29th June! This is the church of Xaghra. and this is the church of Zebbug.

These are just three of the many churches there are in Gozo. Every single one is worth a visit!

San Blas bay

This is San Blas bay in Gozo with an small sandy beach. Pity the path down is very steep. Even going down you must watch you don't fall over (LOL) the path is so steep! Imagine having to walk up again ..... brrr no I wasn't in the mood so I stuck to taking pictures from up the hill!

Walking around the Citadel

Even though I have been there every so often in the past I just had to roam around the Citadel once again.
These little shops selling knitting wear have been there as long as I remember. It always amazes me that these things sell in such a warm country. Only the idea of trying on a wool jersey on a hot day makes me shiver.
The view from the Citadel is wonderful. Here you can see Saviours hill in the distance and Marsalforn lying behind it.
Because the Cathedral is under construction I didn't take a picture from up front. This picture shows it as it looks from the walls of the Citadel. On the left in the background you can see Xewkija rotunda.
Oh and these narrow streets have been really nicely reconstructed.
