Behind the gate

If you walk through the gate in my former post you will come to this luxurious holiday complex called Tal Fanal. We stayed here several years ago and just came to have a look. On another day when it was very windy near the sea we returned. Like naughty teenagers we sneaked in and relaxed by the pool and enjoyed the sun in this tranquil area.
LOL we had fun!

Simply loved the shadows this gate made and of course I had to capture them for Shadow Shot Sunday.

Have a nice day!

Ta Pinu Basilica

Ta Pinu Basilica in Gozo, a Roman Catholic minor basilica.
Enjoying the peace and quietness surrounding this basilica, I strolled around a little and that's when I saw the church from this angle for the first time.

Xlendi in Gozo

If you drive from Victoria to Xlendi, this is where you enter Xlendi. We left the car in the parking lot and walked onto the little jetty, where I took this picture. Looking the other way from the beach you can see how narrow the bay is. Note the sun glittering on the water!
We walked along the path near the sea and looked back into Xlendi.

St George's Square in Gozo

This is St. George's Square in Victoria, Gozo. Here we enjoyed a cappuccino and a cheesecake, which the Maltese call pastizzi. It's a traditional Maltese pastry snack made of puff pastry and filled with ricotta or with a pea mixture. While sitting there enjoying this snack we heard the church bell ring, so we looked up and it amazed us very much to see a man ringing the bell by hand!

Limestone shadows

Oh boy it's Sunday again, time to post some shadows! Where did the week go? Time seems to fly so fast.......

Over here in Holland we're enjoying a nice and sunny, long Pentecost weekend (Monday is a public holiday too, we call it 2nd Pentecost day).

Even though I see shadows all around I'm posting some pictures I took last week in Gozo. I noted the shadows of these geraniums and cacti on the limestone walls and really liked them.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Hills near Marsalforn

This is one of the little hills near Marsalforn called Il-Qolla is-Safra. You can see this yellow sandstone hill on your way to Qbajjar.
On the road from Marsalforn to Victoria you will see Tas Salvatur Hill (Saviours hill) with a statue of Jesus Christ on the top.

Kinnie & Hobz biz zejt

When in Gozo you just have to try a traditional Maltese dish called Hobz biz zejt and have a local drink called Kinnie to go with it!

Hobz biz zejt is tasty, crusty Maltese bread with olive oil and tomatoes. At some village pubs they ad olives and capers. Kinnie is a soft drink with a bitter sweet flavour. Mmmm both are delicious! Especially when enjoying it in Gozo near the sea!

Approaching Gozo

Here the Gozo ferry is approaching Mgarr harbour in Gozo.
On entering the harbour I noted the end of the jetty where I often waited for family and friends to arrive who came to stay with us when we lived in Gozo. Nowadays you are not allowed to walk along the jetty.
A closer look at Mgarr harbour in Gozo with the little church of Our Lady of Lourdes overlooking the harbour.

Shadows in Gozo

On holiday in Gozo it isn't hard to find shadows. Early every morning I walked around the little harbour in Marsalforn and saw many shadows. With the fishing boats coming in I saw lots of fishing nets and cages.

I liked the delicate shadows of these fishing cages and captured them with my camera. Sorry to say I don't know what kind of fish they catch with these cages, if you know do tell me!

Thanks for visiting and enjoy your Sunday!
