Oil balls

After watching the carbide shooting, returned home for the traditional baking of oil balls! Love them when they are still nice and warm..........time for a cuppa tea! Wishing you a happy year's ending!

Fried dough, warm and sweet, with a bit of sugar sprinkled on....a treat indeed. They remind me of the beignets one can buy at the famous Cafe du Monde in New Orleans.

every year i say i want to make the oil balls for the new year but i forget. haha! next year i will make them for sure. actually, i won't wait for next year. i'll make them very soon.
