Shadows cycling church paths

Beautiful sunny weather, shadows everywhere. Two kids busy with work and another with a football tournement. And so we were lucky for we had a whole sunny afternoon for ourselves. As we really like cyclying we placed our bikes on the car and drove off to a place from where we could make a bike trip over mostly old church paths.
At the beginning of our trip we cycled through a wood.
Note the shadows on the bridge. These church paths have been renovated and have become great paths to cycle over. In olden days these paths were used to walk to church. That's why they are named chuch paths. Ah here we are approaching one of the churches along this route.A closer look at the church spire. Time for a break. We parked our bikes agains a post.Cold ice tea and some biscuits taste good on a hot afternoon. There we go again along another reconstructed church path.
Note the shadows made by the young trees.Another church spire in the distance.Nearly back where we started.
Nature is lovely!

Photo hunter - book(s)

Book(s): one of my obsessions! I simply love books. So for me a very easy topic for this weeks Photo hunter post. Always a book at hand and books all around me. This is my favourite piece of furniture: our book mill! Books on all sides, easy to twirl around and pick a good book.

Those who guessed at my previous post are right, the shadow shot is a zoomed in photo of a flower in our garden. It is such a delight to take macro shots of flowers. I notice things I would never have noticed if I hadn't taken a macro shot. When I zoomed in on this flower to study it more closely I noted the shadows and the stripes in the flower petals. We don't have a big garden and this plant does not even have that many flowers but still it is a delight to see. This attractive flower is called Geranium and there are many kinds of it.
We planted it next to our little water, in winter it is all gone and in Spring it starts flowering again. Here's a sunny close up, taken this afternoon. We had a very hot, sunny day and weather forecasts say tomorrow will be even hotter. Guess you won't be seeing much of me around here the coming weeks as exams are nearing again. Today I spent the whole afternoon in the shade of an umbrella at our picknicktable studying and trying to understand Marketing and Organization Strategies. Yak!

Have a joyful and good week!

Photo hunter - plastic

Today's PH theme is plastic. Oh oh what to post. So much plastic around me which doesn't make a nice picture. OK I'll let you have a peek in my kitchen cupboard at my plastic collection there. Well it does make a colourful shot. This is just a small part of the collection. There is much more in other parts of the cupboard, in the freezer, in the fridge, etc.. It's amazing how much plastic utilities I collected during the years. Wonder if there are more like me, please let me know. Enjoy your weekend. Here it's promising to be sunny and warm.

Guanaco region

The zoo in Emmen is really fantastic with all these different animals for which they made living areas so similar to where these animals live in normal life. Here they build a beautiful region for the Guanacos. Again we were amazed and it really impressed us that they managed to make such an authentic countryside this time for the Guanacos. Here's a closer look at this animal.

Bear country

We were awestruck when we saw this beautiful scenery at the zoo in Emmen. Here they made a living area for the Kodiak bears. We didn't see much of the bears, just some large brown dots snoring away. The Kodiak bear is also known as the Alaskan brown bear. They live on the islands of the Kodiak Archipelago in Alaska.

Imagine having to "move" this kind of scenery to the new zoo outside town.

This Shadow Shot thing is an eye opener for creative shots. Because of SSS I noted the shadows on this garden ornament in the form of a ball. Hey Harriet is celebrating her first anniversary today. Congratulions to her with this fabulous fun idea for posting every Sunday!

Pinguins breeding

In Pinguin land, at the zoo, we saw pinguins breeding everywhere. It astonished me that we were allowed to walk so close by. There was a sign hushing everybody to be quiet but that was all. The above pinguin even allowed us a look at her egg. This one stayed put and the next one found a very safe place. I wouldn't have spotted her weren't it that her man got closer and peeked down but on seeing me decided to turn round.

Pinguin land

The zoo in Emmen is situated in the middle of town. Slowly they are moving the zoo from the centre of town to the outskirts. Right now the pinguins are already situated in this new zoo. Pinguin land has been beautifully made in the new zoo. Such a large, natural living environment for these cute little animals. It is beautiful! And there are so many pinguins.A place to splash around, have fun.........and sunbathe!

What a surprise this morning. Now say for yourself with such a gift Mother's Day has to be a good one. A beautiful jewelbox including a colourful, tasteful necklace and two bracelets. Wonder who will eat these jewels? but the idea is great and very touching! An English poem went with the gift. Also got a Begonia with lovely, double-coloured flowers and two beautiful roses.Happy Mother's Day!

Shadow Shot Sunday

This weeks shadow I noted in Arnhem several weeks ago. Really like the form of this pot filled with pink coloured heath plants.

Have a nice Sunday!

Photo hunter - In memory

American War Cemetry @ MargratenEach for his own memorial
Earned praise that will never die
And with it
The grandest of all sepulchres
Not that in which
His mortal bones are laid
But a home
In the minds of men
