Beautiful flowers

Taking my camera through our little garden I took some pictures of all these beautiful flowers. It shows that my efforts into getting more colour in our garden has taken effect. Of course we had a perfect summer for all these flowers to bloom brightly but now the garden is screaming for rain. BTW don't ask me names of these flowers for I just know that the last flower is a hortensia.

Shadow shot Sunday

Another beautiful day lies in front of us. The sun shines bright through our duettes and in front of the house the shade of the little chair with flowers falls on the wood beneath our front window.

WOW it has been a fantastic summer! Unfortunately weather forecasts tell us to expect more Autumn like weather the coming week with lower temperatures and rain.

Flowering abundantly

These summerflowers still flower abundantly and yet the end of September is nearing!
That's what a wonderful summer does to nature: it makes everything look bright and happy!

Down memory lane

This time I came across this picture of myself in 1989 in Calp, Spain, with Ifach Rock behind me. The funny part is that I had to Google for that because I don't recall ever having seen that Rock. LOL!

Autumn colours

Aaaaaaah Summer is gone and Autumn is here. Not that I am too happy with it for I prefer Spring and Summer and those won't be back the coming six months. After having lived on Gozo for many years, with only two seasons, I really enjoyed watching the differences in the 4 seasons back in Holland. Still Autumn and Winter will never be my favourite seasons. That doesn't mean I want nothing to do with Autumn and Winter. Even in my home Autumn is now visible on our table. The colours and the lightened candles make ik very cosy inside!

Beautiful visitors

These beautiful butterflies came to visit our own garden. Could hardly believe my luck when they even stayed put long enough for me to capture their beauty!

Shadow shot Sunday

It's shadow shot Sunday again and even though I've been a lousy player this summer (and that's not because there were no shadows to catch but somehow I just can't find the time to go popping by other players) I liked the following picture enough to share it here with you for shadow shot Sunday.

We had a very sunny summer and even this last Sunday in the summer season was a real one with warm, sunny weather. Great shadows everywhere. This afternoon I noted the shadow made by our son's bike waiting for him to take a ride on it. He has a new hobby and goes cycling whenever he can. Today's weather was just perfect to take the bike and go on a nice, long tour.

Steam weekend

A few weeks ago there was a "steam weekend" in our neighbourhood. The steam train drove through the countryside and passed several trainstations. It was a wonderful sight. On the first picture you can see that loads of people really liked this event and it was no difficulty to get the train full on every ride. We didn't ride along but stood on the side watching and taking these shots. Enjoy!

This will be my last picture of our summer holidays in France. We enjoyed this strawberry sorbet in Belfort a few days before going home. It was really yummy!

Peugeot museum

The peugeot museum in Sochaux/Montbéliars was very interesting. Especially the old cars had my interest. Here are a few pictures.

Old town Belfort

The old town of Belfort is stunning. These fortifications have been well preserved and look magnificent. Here is one of the fortified towers. The cathedral.
A gate into the fortifications.
Approaching Brisach gate.
A closer look at Brisach gate, note the sun carved in the pediment. It is the emblem of King Louis XIV.What better way to enjoy a warm summer evening!

Wall painting

The wall painting on this building is an optical illusion. It makes it look as if the building has 3 parts to a wall on the leftside whereas it is just a plain straight wall. Besides the wall painting I liked the colour of the building and its beautiful blue shutters.

Covered market building

This building is nothing like we ever saw before. In the evening light it looked even more beautiful. It is the covered market building in Belfort, France.

Cycling in Belfort

Belfort is a lovely place to cycle around. Here you see hubby cycling back to the camping early in the morning after our visit to the Boulangerie to buy some baguettes and croissants for a French breakfast.
Later in the morning we cycled into town. I really liked the flowerful bridges we saw everywhere. In the early evening we just had to go for another bike ride along the good cycle path along the Savoureuse river. We saw the water fountains on the other side of the river. (for a closer look see one of my previous blogposts) Shadow of a building in the Savoureuse river.
