Shadow shot Sunday

Yesterday evening we cycled to the Festival area not far from where we live. If you look really well you can see a large shadow in the foreground and a shadow of the crane falling on the middle tent.

Here's a closer look, see the shadow now?We cycled around and here is the entry to the Festival.Note the great number of bikes parked near the Festival area. Those who can, come by bike, so that they can have a drink or two.You might have noticed there are no shadows anymore, that's because the sun was slowly setting behind the tents. It was a lovely sight!

Photo hunter - surprise

Don't think our daughter would have liked this surprise awaiting her in front of her tent. We could just imagine her popping out her head of her tent and screeching in fright at this surprise. Ever since a bird picked her in het hand she doesn't like anything with feathers coming too close.
Lucky her we awoke first and the geese family didn't seem to like us that much so they took off to the river. Here they go.

Shadow Shot

This summer I've been a lousy shadow shot Sunday player. The weather has been so beautiful that we've been spending a lot of time outside. Besides that we travelled through France for a few weeks as you might have noticed from the pictures I've been posting these past weeks. While on holiday I did think of Shadow Shot Sunday and these pictures of the shadows near these big flowerpots I took thinking of a shadow shot post.

Angel statue

Just loved this shy angel statue with a flute to the lips. Came across it near the entrance to Baume Abbey in its village of Baume-les-Messieurs, Jura, France.

Ballon d'Alsace

When in Belfort we drove up the road leading over the pass near the peak of the Ballon d'Alsace. From the parking space it is only a short walk to the top of the Ballon d'Alsace, a mountain in a range of low mountains in eastern France. It's a lovely walk and from the top the view is breathtaking over the Vosges, the Rhine Valley with the Black Forest in the distance. We also saw the top of the Grand Ballon, one of the highest points in this mountain range. We were really lucky as the weather was just perfect, very sunny and a very blue sky, making it a delight to walk in such beautiful surroundings!

Colourful sails

I just loved the look of these colourful sails on the Etang des Forges near Belfort in France. This lake and surrounding area has been set up for numerous sports like sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, rock climbing, archery, etc..

Down memory lane

Making digital photo's of old slides is fun and good for a laugh now and then. See here a much younger me riding an elephant in Sri Lanka in 1988. And on the next picture my mum even dared to stand between the tusks.

Statue of Jezus overlooking the valley at the Belvedere de la Combe d'Ain.From the Belvedere we could see Lac Chalain in the distance. Overlooking the little town of Chatillon we saw Camping de l'Epinette lying in the valley. In the distance the hills of the Haut Jura.

Down memory lane

The other day we found this digital image copier and thought it would be a good idea to buy one so that we could make digital photo's of the load of old slides we have somewhere in a big box. We started with our holiday in Sousse, Tunisia in 1987. My I don't recall ever being that skinny!

Lac Leman

Coming out of the Haut Jura via Col de la Faucille we were awestruck with the beautiful view of Lac Leman with the Alps in the background. A little further down the road to Gex we saw the big fountain of Geneve in the distance (on the rightside of the next photo).

Glue on their shoes!

Wonder why this store had such an immense attraction on my family. They go through a museum at high speed and into a forest we won't get them anymore but an Apple Store must have put glue on their shoes. LOL and it isn't because they never go surfing the net for that's a near daily practice of youth today! Must say this Store looked fabulous and had several interesting things that I wouldn't mind having too but no I wasn't able to spend longer than a few minutes inside. That's when I went and sat outside to watch all kinds of people pass by. Alas only for a short while because someone puked next to me. Yak that made me rush inside again!

Photo hunter - low

Noticed this weeks photohunt theme is low and thought this picture of a plane flying very low just before landing at Geneve Airport would fit in perfect. Can you see it?

Friday, August 07, 2009

When we were in Geneve it was very cloudy weather and it even rained a little. Otherwise I would have loved to sit on one of those deckchairs on the above picture to watch the high fountain sprouting in Lac Leman.

Is it age?

We wanted to go up to enjoy the view of Geneve and the Alpes but on seeing the steepness of the trip we didn't dare. Wonder if this is age or just being afraid. Oh well we didn't go up and must have missed a fabulous view.
